Helping the people of DR Congo to help themselves. Tools of the trade pledged by Puro to spur productivity and generate larger coffee yields within the poorest country in the world. Money from their harvests returned into education, health care and agricultural support. Improved coffee production directly aligned to improved living conditions.
In 2009, we began investing in projects with CDI Bwamanda that focused on offering support to 50,000 Fairtrade coffee growers within the region.
We have funded:
coffee processing machines; a huller and a pulper.
coffee carts for transporting the coffee beans.
hectares of coffee plants that are naturally more disease resistant.
Lots of other essential tools.
